Wheel Balancing
Wheel balancing allows the tyres and wheels to rotate without causing any vibrations. Your wheels’ balance is gauged by checking for any heavy spots on the wheel-tyre combination and compensating for such flaws by placing a measured balancing weight on the opposite side of the wheel from where the heavy spot is located. Wheel balancing is important to achieve optimum fuel economy and to ensure you get the most from your vehicle.
Properly balanced wheels give a smoother and safer drive and prolong the life of your tyres. Improper balance is not just uncomfortable and uneconomical. It is also unsafe.
Problems caused by improper wheel balance include:
- Poor handling (vibration in the steering wheel)
- Higher fuel consumption
- Damage to vehicle suspension
- Quicker wear of tyres
It is important to remember that a wheel imbalance can happen at any time. Wheels that were correctly balanced when the tyre was fitted can go out of balance through ordinary events like striking a pothole or mounting a kerb.
At Adamstown Tyres wheel balancing is a service we provide. Wheel balancing comes as standard and is free with all tyre purchases. It is carried out after your new tyres are fitted in both our Adamstown and New Ross depots and takes only a few minutes.
If you have questions about wheel balancing or any other aspect of the condition and performance of your tyres, just contact us or call to see us at either our Adamstown or New Ross depots.
